How do you cut a 60cm cube Mr Telford??

why you first take a sheet of float glass……and cut out these shapes…..

this is 100% Glass Engineering and cut from 4mm glass….so to build a 60mm cube what sizes do I need to cut you ask…..

image

sounds easy doesn’t it????? 60mm cube…..easy???

so after MUCH debate and tears and tantrum……the measurements for 4mm glass are as follows:

so to recap

* 2 of 60mm x 60mm glass for top and bottom.
* 2 x 60mm x 52mm for opposite side pieces
* 2 x 52mm x 60mm for opposite side pieces

It is NOT easy………the glass has to be 100% pertect cut by hand and not have any Bur’s or deviance from specified measurements in any way whatsoever, each cut edgge must be able to stand on all edges………..no diamond files,no sandpaper no machine intervention just perfect cuts………

whilst you work on it….it is held in place by a very snazzy Bohle magnet jig…..

and then …..

each edge is very carefully coated with high viscosity Bohle Adhesive LV740 and a Bohle UV setting lamp to bond glue to glass to glass to glue with no air bubbles.

And IF with mine I get this far……I get to close the cube and trap an object of choice inside…….as this one is expertly effortlessly and flawlessly executed by Mr Telford our amazing lecturer……he trapped a sweetie wrapper heart made by the lovely V for him!!!!

This is how far I got with mine and then the workshops close at 4 and I get to try fit finishing it in my spare time…….humpf…..I will keep you posted.
